National Service Scheme (NSS)
Since 2001
NSS students participating in environmental conservation activities, planting and gardening

NSS is introduced as an educational programme with the objective of establishing a meaningful link between the campus and community. The aim of NSS is "development of the personality of students through community services."

NSS at MGHSS started in 2001, with 100 volunteers who actively participate in both regular activities and the seven-day special camp. The thrust areas are environment and health care, guided by Smt. Thahira P.P (Principal) and Smt. Ramlath P (Programme Officer).

Student Police Cadet (SPC)

The Student Police Cadet Project is a school–police partnership that trains students as law-abiding, empathetic, responsible citizens. It fosters civic sense, environmental care, and resistance to social evils.

The two-year training includes physical drills, study classes, field visits, projects, and camps. SPC builds globally minded leaders guided by humanitarian values, promoting patriotism, inclusiveness, and democratic participation.

Since 2010

Launched at MGHSS on 4th December 2010, the Bharath Scouts and Guides unit enhances physical and mental growth, discipline, and service values.

Thirty-two students receive training to become confident, responsible, and service-minded individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.

Junior Red Cross (JRC)
Humanitarian Service

The Junior Red Cross nurtures humanitarian values in students through community service, health promotion, safety training, and awareness of Red Cross principles.

It encourages youth participation in programme management, fundraising, and international friendship. Students contribute actively to both local and global humanitarian missions.

Commerce Association (ASCOS)
Since 2004
Commerce Association event with students attending a seminar in the school auditorium

Founded in 2004 and rebranded as ASCOS (Association of Commerce Students), it develops business acumen, leadership, and soft skills through comprehensive programs. The association organizes regular seminars, workshops, career guidance sessions, and industry interactions.

ASCOS nurtures entrepreneurial thinking, financial literacy, and professional communication skills. Students participate in business plan competitions, mock interviews, and cultural events that build confidence and teamwork. The association has maintained exceptional academic standards with over 98% pass rates in board examinations, achieving a perfect 100% result in 2011–12.

Established in 1997, the Humanities Association focuses on holistic intellectual development and critical thinking. The association conducts interactive academic sessions, documentary screenings, heritage site visits, and comprehensive PSC coaching programs for aspiring civil servants.

Regular sessions with IAS toppers and distinguished civil servants inspire students to pursue careers in public service. The association organizes debates, quiz competitions, model United Nations, and social awareness campaigns that develop analytical thinking, public speaking, and leadership qualities.

State-level Senior Volleyball Championship: Kottayam district clinched the Championship title with 5 of our students in the winning team.

Sub-junior Volleyball: Team achieved Second Runner-up position at state level with our students contributing significantly.

Through this programme, 80 financially challenged students receive ₹500 each to help meet their essential educational expenses.
